    PES Welcome back 2025-2026!

    Welcome back, PES Families!

It is hard to believe it is time to start school again! I have missed all of our students so much- I can’t wait to see everyone!

We wanted to share some important back-to-school items with all of you for the 2025-26 school year.

    • The first day of school will be August 7 for grades kindergarten- 6th grade. It is a full day. The first day of preschool is August 12.
    • We will be hosting our Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 6, from 4:00-6:00 pm. This is an open house style, so please come any time during the window that works for your family. If you have no preference, we have some divided times to keep people spread out:
      • A-H 4:00-4:40 pm
      • I-O 4:40-5:20 pm
      • P-Z 5:20-6:00 pm

Students and families will be able to see their classroom and meet their teacher, as well as meet other staff who will be working with your child. We can also answer any questions you may have about the start of school! Families can bring supplies with them this evening.

    • IMPORTANT: Students will not be able to start school if they are not registered in Infinite Campus. Please ensure you are enrolled so your child can start on August 7. Please let the office know if you have any questions.
    • No cell phone policy: We have a new district wide cell phone and smart watch policy. Students will not be able to have their phone out of their backpack during the school day. Students will be able to wear smart watches but may only use them to tell the time. Students will be asked to remove their watch if they violate this policy. This is not a big change from what we have always done at PES so our kids will have no problem :).
    • Student handbooks will be sent home the first day of school- this will include details about all processes and procedures at PES. In the meantime, please remember that half of the north side of the building (Salisbury Ave.) is drop off and pick up only, much like the airport. We know that parking is hard at PES, so please utilize this door to door service! We will have staff there am and pm. Please see the diagram in the handbook (on website currently) for a diagram of places to park.
    • HARVEST DAZE 2025: Harvest Daze is an annual event in our amazing town of Platteville. In addition to fun vendors and booths at the community center and fireworks at night, our PES PTO hosts the 5K run! There is a parade and this year the students of Platteville Elementary and myself were chosen to be the GRAND MARSHALLS!!! Please be on the lookout for more information soon- we would love to involve as many kids as possible. The parade and 5k are Saturday, August 16.
    • Our school theme this year is the Wild West!

Title VI & VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

    Title IX

Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity.

Regardless of whether sexual harassment (that includes sexual violence) occurs at school, Title IX obligates school districts to address any impact of that conduct on students that interferes with their ability to access their education. This means that schools must provide students with their Title IX rights and the contact information for adults at school who can respond to allegations of misconduct and put in place interim remedies to support impacted students. If students experience harassment or retaliation resulting from the exercise of their Title IX rights, then schools are legally obligated to take action to stop it from recurring.

In terms of Title IX investigations, the School District is obligated to investigate and take action to stop misconduct that is impacting students at school, but there is not a strict timeline for such investigations. When the same allegations are being investigated by law enforcement, then the School District wants to minimize potential trauma for students by using information from law enforcement's investigation as much as possible. Most often, we do this by, among other things, using information in police reports, juvenile petitions, and information shared by the DA’s office as the substantive information for the School District’s Title IX investigation while also providing due process to the involved parties as required by the U.S. Department of Education rules and regulations governing school districts. While law enforcement investigations and any related legal proceedings are being conducted, the School District’s focus is on providing interim remedies to support students. Title IX for employees contact Krista Trimbach, Director of Human Resources and Payroll at 970-350-4201 or trimbachk@wcsdre1.org and Title IX for students contact Travis Stinar, Director of Operations at 970-350-4201 or stinart@wcsdre1.org, 1004 Main Street Platteville, Colorado 80651.
